About us

Troop 31 is a Scout-Led troop.
-
Troop Elections - Our troop is divided into Patrols each with its own Patrol Leader and his assistant(s).
-
Senior Patrol - One of our patrols is called the Senior Patrol, which means that it is made up of the most senior scouts. It is they, not the adults, that are in charge of most of our activities.
-
At Outings - At outings, our scouts plan their meals, cook their food, and set up their tents.
-
Sign-offs - In order to advance ranks, a scout must have his rank requirements signed off. These requirements are signed off by older scouts.

Camping

We do our best to camp once per month and are very closely associated with Trask Scout Reservation, in the mountains just north of Monrovia. Every summer, we attend a summer camp, which lasts for 6 nights and is a great way to not only learn new skills but also meet other troops and connect to others within our own troop.

Rank advancement & Leadership Opportunities

Our goal for each and every scout is for him to advance to the rank of Eagle Scout, having fun along the journey. As a scout is progressing through the ranks, he will have plenty of opportunity to get in a leadership position, meaning everyone has a chance to learn how to lead. More senior scouts help out younger scouts with their rank advancement, leading to a close-knit community of scouts.
